Francisco Umbral died yesterday

I have not been able to write before. I wanted to leave a testimonial of one of the greatest novelists of the second half of the XXth Century in Spanish language.

I enjoyed specially Travesía de Madrid and Mortal y Rosa. The first one I bought when I just moved to Madrid to finish the University, and his narrative of a student coming from provinces to the big city caught me. The second one, much later, when my hairs that fell every morning, like the storyteller’s, can be counted all Autumns. I wrote in Spanish about Mortal y Rosa in 2004, a novel born from the pain of loosing a child. I want to remember him now. Dandy and arrogant, most of the people speaking about him in media today had not read any of the books of such a fine storyteller.
